Introduction
The Jetina PEN Boss Gear was added in October 2021 and is a new method of obtaining PEN gear for new BDO players. The Jetina PEN boss gear quests guarantee a full set of PEN boss gear (armor and weapons) and is meant to be cheaper than trying to enhance or buy PEN boss gear. Jetina’s Method is also 100% guaranteed, so you don’t have to deal with BDO’s enhancement system.
Important things you should know before you start Jetina PEN Boss Gear:
- Shai “Sol” weapons cannot be enhanced
- The PEN boss gear cannot be sold on the market
- The PEN boss gear can be turned into Fallen God Armor
- You will need to have a character that is level 60+
- You will already need TET boss gear or PEN Tuvala gear
- You can make one full set of gear (3 weapons + 4 armors = 7 items total)
- This method takes time and preparation, it requires a lot of materials. Start preparing as soon as possible.
- The 1st boss weapon you make will be cheaper than the 3rd weapon you make because you will need more materials for your 2nd and 3rd weapons.
- The 1st boss armor you make will be cheaper than the 4th armor you make because you will need more materials for your 2nd, 3rd and 4th armor.
Double-check the cost of the materials vs buying a PEN. In some cases, PEN gear has dropped dramatically in price and it may work out cheaper to just buy the gear from the market.
The guaranteed Jetina PEN Boss Gear path is one that will take some time but may be worth it for you in the end, even for some veteran players.

How to get started
Quest Requirements
- Level 60 or higher
- Completed the quest “Old Moon Guild’s Trade Offer” from the Suggested quests by speaking to NPC Jetina in Velia
- Must be a normal character/graduated from the Season Server
If you cannot see any quests from Jetina, make sure all quests are turned ON at the bottom of your Quest Log (O).
What you will need
To get started with Jetina PEN Boss Gear, you will need one of the following:
- PEN Tuvala Gear
- Obtained from Season servers (recommended)
- TET Boss Gear you have exchanged using a “[Season] Boss Gear Exchange Coupon”
- TET Boss Gear bought or enhanced yourself
Exchanging your Gear
You now need to exchange your PEN Tuvala/TET Boss Gear with Jetina. She will give you a choice between 2 different weapons and armor.
At this point, you need to make a decision whether to go for Damage Reduction armors or Evasion armors. The choice depends on your playstyle and class.
I recommend reading through our Damage Reduction VS Evasion guide/discussion to help you decide, which will also teach you how these important stats work.
If you are not sure, then select the recommended Damage Reduction armors.
The recommended armor and weapons are shown below:
- Ultimately, Red Rose will be replaced by Fallen God Armor, Griffon helmet will be replaced by Labreska Helmet, Urugon’s/Muskan’s Shoes will be replaced by Ator’s Shoes, and Bheg’s/Leebur’s Gloves will be replaced by Dahn’s Gloves
- The reason you are recommended to take Red Nose Armor is because it requires fewer caphras to level up, meaning you will save silver when upgrading to Fallen God Armor
Damage Reduction Armors (recommended for new players) | Evasion Armors |
---|---|
Griffon’s Helmet ⇒ Labreska Helmet | Griffon’s Helmet ⇒ Labreska Helmet |
Red Nose Armor ⇒ Fallen God Armor | Red Nose Armor ⇒ Fallen God Armor |
Urugon’s Shoes ⇒ Ator’s Shoes | Muskan’s Shoes ⇒ Ator’s Shoes |
Bheg’s Gloves ⇒ Dahn’s Gloves | Leebur’s Gloves ⇒ Dahn’s Gloves |

Once you’ve decided which gear you would like to select, begin the exchange at NPC Jetina. The newly exchanged boss gear cannot be sold on the central market.
- Step 1: Talk to your Black Spirit and complete the quest “[PEN (V) Boss Gear: The Old Moon Guild’s Best Deal]” with a character that’s Lv. 60 or higher
- Step 2:Talk to Jetina and obtain the quests to exchange your gear. Eg. “Old Moon’s Resplendent [Weapon/Armor]: [Boss Name]”
- Shai “Sol” Talent weapons cannot be exchanged or upgraded using the guaranteed PEN method at this time
- If the quest does not appear, make sure you have all quest types are turned on (yellow) in your quest log.
- Step 3:Make sure to remove any caphras in the gear or you will not be able to exchange them. Hand over the gear to Jetina using the “chat” option.
- Step 4: Complete the quest by talking to Jetina. Make sure you collect the correct boss gear you want from her.
- Boss weapons will be given to you in a box that you can open on the character you want to use the weapon on.
Enhancing the Jetina PEN Boss Gear
Now that you have the upgradable boss gear, you will need “Reform Stones” to enhance it. The Reform Stones must be crafted using a variety of materials. A full breakdown of all the materials you need to craft them is in the next sections.
- Weapon – Jetina PEN Boss Gear Materials
- Armor – Jetina PEN Boss Gear Materials
There are 5 levels you need to enhance and as you upgrade to each level, you will gain small stat increases.
Enhancing armors and weapons becomes more expensive with each one, so it is recommended to only enhance 2 Armors and 1 Weapon with Jetina’s Method.
For the armors, complete the Magnus Questline to obtain a FREE PEN Griffon’s Helmet, then use Jetina’s Method for your Red Nose and Bheg’s Gloves. Finally, buy PEN Urugons from the central market.
For the weapons, use Jetina’s Method to get your Kutum offhand to Reform level 4. The only difference between level 4 and a PEN Kutum, is 1 accuracy. You can then obtain a FREE TET Blackstar for your mainhand or awakening (I would recommend selecting the TET Blackstar Mainhand first). For your awakening weapon slot, keep that at TET for now.

You will start with the level 0 TET Boss Gear you obtained from Jetina | |

Enhancing to level 5 Talk to your Black Spirit, Then use either the Weapon | Resplendent Weapon Reform Stone V OR Resplendent Armor Reform Stone V |
Once your gear is level 5, you can go back to Jetina again and accept and complete the quest “Old Moon’s Brilliant” to exchange the gear for PEN boss gear. You can use Caphras Enhancement on your PEN (V) Boss Gear, or use it to craft the Fallen God’s Armor, but cannot register it on the Central Market. |

How to obtain the Reform Stone Materials
Concentrated Magical Black Stones
Concentrated Magical Black Stones can be easily bought from the central market.
You can also craft them yourself:
- Concentrated Magical Black Stone
- Obtained by Heating “Sharp Black Crystal Shard” x1 and “Black Stone” x2.
Memory Fragments
Memory Fragments can be bought from the Central Market.
You can also get them from various other content, such as in-game Events, Dark Rifts, Boss Summon Scrolls, etc.
The easiest way to obtain a large amount of Memory Fragments is by grinding in Valencia spots that drop items called Scroll Written in Ancient Language. These can be used to create a summon scroll and reward a large amount of Memory Fragments.
Check these guides for more information:
- Pila Fe Scrolls
- Ancient Relic Scrolls
- Cartian Spell Scrolls
Magical Shards
Magical Shards are obtained by processing (L) > heating yellow-grade Black Magic Crystals or Sealed Black Magic Crystals
Sealed Black Magic Crystals drop from certain grinding spots and can also be bought from the central market.
They can be opened to obtain a random Black Magic Crystal, but the Sealed Black Magic Crystal is generally cheaper to buy and can be heated for Magical Shards.
- Sealed Black Magic Crystals can be obtained by grinding at spots in Valencia, Serendia/Calpheon Elvia Realm spots, or Star’s End.
Green/Blue/Red/Black Crystals
For the Jetina PEN Weapons, you will need Crystals, while for the Jetina PEN Armors you will need to use Gems instead.
Green Crystals, Blue Crystals, Red Crystals and Black Crystals are all available on the Central Market.
They can also be crafted by opening the Processing window (L) and using the Heating option to melt Rough Green/Bue/Red/Black Crystals.
- Rough Green Crystals
- can be gathered near Rhutum Outstation in Calpheon, or collected using Workers at a node and opening a “Some Miner’s Sack”
- Rough Blue Crystals
- can be gathered near Yalt Canyon and Gahaz Bandits’ Lair in Valenica, or collected using workers at a node and opening a “Some Miner’s Sack”
- Rough Red Crystals
- can be gathered near Khuruto Cave in Calpheon, or collected using workers at a node and opening a “Some Miner’s Sack”
- Rough Black Crystals
- can be gathered near Abandoned Iron Mine in Mediah, or collecting using workers at a node and opening a “Some Miner’s Sack”
Emerald/Sapphire/Ruby/Diamond Gems
For the Jetina PEN Weapons, you will need Crystals, while for the Jetina PEN Armors you will need to use Gems instead.
Rough Emerald Gems, Rough Sapphire Gems, Rough Ruby Gems, and Rough Diamond Gems are all available on the Central Market.
They can also be crafted by opening the Processing window (L) and using the Grinding option on Emeralds, Sapphires, Rubies, or Diamonds.
- Emerald
- can be gathered from certain rocks using Mining, or collected using Workers at a node and opening a “Some Miner’s Sack”
- Sapphire
- can be gathered from certain rocks using Mining, or collected using workers at a node and opening a “Some Miner’s Sack”
- Ruby
- can be gathered from certain rocks using Mining, or collected using workers at a node and opening a “Some Miner’s Sack”
- Diamond
- can be gatheredfrom certain rocks using Mining , or collecting using workers at a node and opening a “Some Miner’s Sack”
Concentrated Boss Crystals
Concentrated Boss Crystals are time gated and the most annoying piece to obtain for the Jetina PEN boss gear.
They have a chance of dropping when killing World bosses, Field Bosses, and Dark Rifts.
The easiest way to obtain them is by completing a weekly quest called “[Weekly] Imperfect Beeings” at Jetina. Weekly quests reset every Thursday at 00:00 UTC.
- This weekly quest requires you to hand over Latent Boss Aura x2 and gives you Concentrated Boss Crystal x155
- Latent Boss Auras can be obtained by defeating Bosses.
- For example: Killing the Kzakra world boss will reward you with Latent Boss Auras.
Latent Boss Auras
Latent Boss Auras are obtained by killing various bosses. You then need to exchange them for Concentrated Boss Crystals at Jetina through her weekly quest “[Weekly] Imperfect Beings”.
Scroll | Latent Auras | Boss Type | Boss Name |
---|---|---|---|
3-5 | Empowered World Boss | Nightmarish Kzarka, Bloodstorm Nouver, Thundercloud Kutum, Stormbringer Karanda | |
1-2 | World Boss | Kzarka, Nouver, Kutum, Karanda, Offin Tett | |
1-2 | Field Boss | Dim Tree Spirit, Red Nose, Dastard Bheg | |
1-2 | Dark Rift | Red Nose, Dastard Bheg, Muskan, Dim Tree Spirit, Griffon |
Contained Boss Auras
Contained Boss Auras are obtained using Processing (L) > Simple Alchemy on boss gear. This will consume the item.
Enhancement Level | Result |
---|---|
Base (unenhanced) | Contained Boss’s Aura x1 |
PRI (I) | Contained Boss’s Aura x10 |
DUO (II) | Contained Boss’s Aura x15 |
TRI (III) | Contained Boss’s Aura x30 |
Oquilla Crystals
Oquilla Crystals are the highest cost factor when creating Jetina’s Boss gear, which is why sometimes it is cheaper and easier to just buy PEN boss gear from the central market.
For the PEN Reform Stone, you will need x1 Oquilla Crystal (Sky for Weapons, Earth for Armors).
First you will need to buy Oquilla Piece of the Old Moon from Old Moon Manager NPCs for 50 million silver each.
The locations of Old Moon Managers can be found below. You can also use the NPC Finder under ESC Menu > Function > Find NPC and search “Old Moon”.
- Velia
- Heidel
- Calpheon
- Altinova
- Valencia
- Grana
- Duvencrune
- O'draxxia

Once you have the correct amount of Oquilla Piece of the Old Moon you can exchange them for an Oqualla Crystal at Jetina via a quest.
- Resplendent Weapon Reform Stone: Oquilla’s Sky Crystal
- Resplendent Armor Reform Stone: Oquilla’s Earth Crystal
The amount of Oquilla Piece of the Old Moon you need to hand over for the quest depends on how many Jetina PEN boss gear pieces you have already made using Jetina’s Method.
Jetina Gear | Oquilla Piece of Old Moon | Silver Cost |
---|---|---|
1st PEN Weapon | x30 | 1.5 billion silver |
2nd PEN Weapon | x70 | 3.5 billion silver |
3rd PEN Weapon | x120 | 6 billion silver |
1st PEN Defense Gear | x80 | 4 billion silver |
2nd PEN Defense Gear | x120 | 6 billion silver |
3rd PEN Defense Gear | x160 | 8 billion silver |
4th PEN Defense Gear | x220 | 11 billion silver |
Exchanged Wrong Boss Gear
If you accidentally exchanged the wrong boss gear at Jetina or selected the wrong gear in the quest rewards, you can change one of each gear slot once per family.
- For example: if you exchanged a PEN Tuvala Armor for a TET Dim Tree Armor, you can swap this for a TET Red Nose Armor instead.
- However, you must not have reformed the gear using the Jetina Reform Stones.
To start the quest, go to Jetina and use the chat option to say “I exchanged the wrong gear”
You will then have an auto path to take you to Yisar Pjetyo.
This NPC is located at Tarif in the Mediah region. He will have 7 different quests (1 for each gear slot). Select the correct quest to swap your gear.
