Why We Don’t Disclose Our PMP Exam Pass Rate or Announce Every Alumnus Who Passes
There is a lot of demand for people with project management credentials like the Project Management Professional (PMP)® and the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)®. They are generally accepted as the gold standard in the field of project management and can lead to more desirable positions and greater salaries.
However, getting these certifications isn’t a walk in the park. Only about 60% (an unofficial number for obvious reasons) of those who take the Project Management Professional (PMP)® exam and/or the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)® exam actually pass. This is why many test-takers sign up for training courses before taking the PMP® or CAPM®.
Many potential students and working professionals have questioned whether or not we can guarantee their success on the upcoming certification exam for project management. Our current capacity does not allow us to respond to your inquiries or fulfill your requirements.
For a variety of reasons, we do not disclose the percentage of graduates who passed the PMP exam or the names of all graduates who met this benchmark. They took the initiative to do well on the exam, which we believe is the primary reason they fared so well. They deserve all the credit for this victory; we’re only here to cheer them on.
Second, highlighting the success of some of our former students could put undue pressure on others who are struggling or who did not have the time or resources to study for the exam. We know for sure that many of our candidates are busy professionals and at times have to change priorities in their daily projects. This can put them in a precarious position, one that may not be fair to them.
Third, there are too many obstacles for us to contact every alumnus to inquire about their exam progress. This is especially the case if they are unprepared or have just failed. That would be a huge invasion of their privacy and completely unnecessary.
Fourth, there is a broad range in how well different persons do on certification exams like the PMP® and CAPM®. Some students may glide through the exams while others suffer terribly. Though it’s sad, we recognize that each person has unique strengths and weaknesses. Whether it is on their first try or not, it does not make them less-better as professionals.
Fifth, we understand that some who may have failed the exam and would rather not reveal it out of respect for their privacy. Their decision was taken in secret, and it could be a sensitive issue, therefore we will respect it.
Sixthly, we can’t take credit for all of our graduates’ success, and it would be dishonest to imply that we had anything to do with it. Although our graduates have our full support, it is ultimately their responsibility to put in the work required to pass the exam on their own.
Finally, even though we are a PMI-recognized ATP, we cannot ensure that each of our grads will pass the PMI exam. Since the statistics of these exams reveal that there will always be failures, it would be unethical to solely showcase the achievements as if everyone would pass.
Finally, we want to express our utmost pride in any graduates who have attained the PMP or CAPM qualifications, and assure them that we stand ready to assist anyone who may need it. Our alumni know they have our full support in any venture they undertake, but we never promise something we can’t deliver. Our reputation for excellence precedes us, and our contacts with current and previous students are always conducted in the strictest of confidence.
