Physical servers, network equipment, and other hardware used in datacenters may contain hazardous substances such as lead, mercury, lithium, and PVC plastics that can be harmful to the environment once they are disposed of as e-waste. By reducing the quantity of hardware equipment in the datacenter, you also reduce the amount of e-waste you release to the environment when those devices reach their end-of-life (EOL).
  • Increase energy efficiency. During their lifespan, datacenter hardware consumes energy.
